Sensory marketing works by engaging your senses to build an emotional connection with a product. It uses sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound along with your memories to create a scene or experience around that product. When this scene is formed, it often reminds you of familiar feelings and cravings, which makes the product feel more personal and familiar. You begin to associate the product with a recognizable scent, flavor, visual cue, or sound, and this strengthens your bond to it over time. Eventually, the product becomes more than just an item and instead becomes an experience that your senses and memories reinforce.
In makeup, sensory marketing is often used through flavor, scent, and color. Interestingly, many makeup products do not actually smell or taste like the flavors they are compaired to. Instead, brands rely heavily on the colors and visual elements tied to certain foods or fruits. A strong example of this is NATASHA DENONA’s Berry Pop Cheek Trio. The palette includes a cranberry toned blush and two highlighters, one coral and one pink champagne, and while the products may not smell like berries, the name creates a fun and familiar association that makes the palette feel more fun. The berry theme builds a connection to fruit without smelling or tasting like it.
This strategy is not limited to makeup. One brand that stood out this summer was Miraggio, which released its Summer Scoop handbag collection inspired by ice cream. They collaborated with Indu Ice Cream to offer matching flavors that reflected the colors of their bags, creating a complete sensory experience. Photos quickly went viral showing customers holding their bags next to the matching ice cream, reinforcing both the visual and emotional connection. The pistachio colored bags became especially popular online. This collaboration, along with a successful pop up event, shows how strong sensory marketing can be when brands combine visual aesthetics with familiar flavors.

A fresh, rosy look inspired by strawberries. Focused on pink cheeks andsoft red-tinted lips.
This is a tutorial for the 'strawberry girl' trend. I show all of my products and shades so you can find them if you like. My version has more steps than the signature look, because I like to be sparkly.
